Christina Delgado is Awarded an Excellence in Journalism Award
Esperanza Post reporter, wins The Philadelphia Public School Notebook’s Award for excellence in feature writing. She was honored at the Notebook’s 5th annual “Turning the Page for Change” Celebration on Monday, June 9 at The University of the Arts. Christina was given a $100 cash award, and Esperanza Academy received a gift card to IKEA to help with future journalism supplies. Christina was honored for her feature on a recent assembly by a Holocaust survivor entitled, “A survivor invites Esperanza students to share from the heart."
Esperanza Celebrates Its Seniors:Esperanza Academy hosted its annual Senior Banquet on May 20th. The celebration was filled with dance, song, and poetry. Ms. Denick Receives the 2008 Henry Meigs Scholarship Award
Esperanza Academy’s own Ms. Denick, along with the students from Esperanza’s Costa Rica, trip, are this year’s recipient of the 2008 Henry Meigs Scholarship Award. This award, sponsored by the Schuylkill Center, recognizes their exceptional interest and accomplishment in environmental studies. Congratulations!
Esperanza Alumni Is Honored with the Student of the Year Award at The University of the Arts Jason Irizarry, Esperanza Academy Class of 2004, was recognized as The University of the Arts’ (UArts) Student Leader of the Year Award. Jason was recognized for being the founding president of UArts’ Latino Student Union. Jason graduated from UArts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in illustration

Esperanza travels to Costa Rica:Esperanza continued its tradition of international travel. This past March, 12 Esperanza students had the chance of a lifetime to learn about environmental science in beautiful Costa Rica.
